Building a Future of Self-Sufficiency
From education to empowerment – join our mission to make Lola sustainable.
Why Self-Sufficiency Matters
For over a decade, Lola has cared for children affected by war, poverty, and HIV/AIDS. But to continue supporting them long-term, we need a sustainable model. We believe education can be the key. By expanding our school, we can serve the local community while supporting our core programs — and offer scholarships to children in need.
Project Overview
The school will grow in 4 phases. Each step brings us closer to long-term sustainability — for the children in our care and for our entire community.

Phase 0: Kindergarten and Nursery in use

Phase 1: New KG classrooms & bathrooms almost ready

Phase 2: First floor for Grades 1–3 under construction

Phase 3: Second floor pending buildout & roofing
The Project, Step by Step
Phase 1: New classrooms & bathrooms almost ready
We’ve already built three new classrooms and prepared the foundations for another set of bathrooms. These new spaces will allow us to welcome more children — including those whose families can contribute tuition, helping fund Lola’s other programs.
What’s Done:
✅ Classrooms structurally complete
✅ Electrical and windows installed
What’s Needed:
🖌 Painting, deep cleaning, final finishes
🪑 Furniture, shelves, chalkboards and supplies
Phase 2: First floor for Grades 1–3 under construction
The first floor of our school building will host Grades 1 to 3. One side has already been plastered, but the work is far from finished. These classrooms will offer primary education to children in the Home and from the community.
What’s Done:
✅ Walls and layout complete
✅ Partial plastering started
What’s Needed:
🧱 Full plastering and painting
🪜 Safe stair rails and surface polishing
🚽 Bathrooms to be installed
📚 Library and Head Teacher’s office setup
🪑 Tiles, furniture, materials, wiring
The second floor will allow us to offer complete primary education, from Grade 4 to Grade 6. Right now, only the floor exists — no walls, no roof, and no infrastructure. This final phase is our biggest challenge, but also the key to sustainability.
What’s Done:
✅ Floor and stairs structure
What’s Needed:
🏗 Concrete slab casting
🧱 Wall construction (bricks, cement, iron)
🛖 Roofing with iron sheets
🚽 Bathrooms installation
🖌 Painting, tiling, electrics
🪑 Furnishing all classrooms
Phase 3: Second floor pending buildout & roofing
Our journey has already begun thanks to your support

🌱 Help Us Become Self-Sufficient
We are working to expand our school from Kindergarten to Grade 12, allowing us to generate sustainable income through tuition from local families who can afford it. This will support all our programs.
